Beijing Olympics FUWA Mascots at People's Park, Chinatown, Singapore

Some months back I went People's Park, near Chinatown for lunch. I saw these 5 funny mascots roaming around. They are the FUWA for the coming Beijing Olympics. I guess the travel agency was doing some promotion. These mascots were very cute and friendly, when they saw me taking out my camera, they formed a row and posed in front for me.
I used to feel no excitement about Olympics as I don't really like sports. "Olympics? what's it to do with me?".

Perhaps because the coming Olympics is held in Beijing, China this round, a place where there are Chinese. Through the radio and news, I hear of efforts and measures China did to overcome difficulties to embrace this Olympics Games 2008. Rules were implemented to reduce air pollution. Eating "dog meat" is banned. I feel these gestures show a form of respect to the many cultures of the guests who will be arriving to Beijing. This round I feel I could better appreciate Olympics , its pride, its significance, bringing harmony and Unity of World Peace.
Nevertheless, nothing much "excitements" happening in Singapore for coming Beijing Olympics, Only commercials from radios, TV, & posters from travel agencies. At least these 5 roaming mascots at People's Park "injected" some gist for the coming Olympics into the atmosphere in Singapore.
